This has been a recurring issue for a lot of people
Here’s how to fix it:
1. Install two old graphics drivers

c. Go to your

Top-level VHDL source code with the padding suppressed – enjoy!

You might object that the signal assignments are supposed to be synchronized (each to the rising and falling edge), however that is by no means the way I would have coded this! This would be a personal choice, and there is no requirement that you do that. So, I did something a bit different and created a table to record the events. The bitvector that represents the events are cleared before a reading for the next’read’. The Latch signals are read for every signal definition. This is a simplified implementation.

This, on the other hand, creates an unknown number of signal events per time increment. It is hard to tell, however we are performing a read on a latch, so it would be quite wasteful to do this for 50,000 increments. Also note that we are actually using two bitvectors here, and we could add a 3rd and limit the duration of the next read to 5 ms (not a terrible number of events to look at).

I did this for power traces. In my case the DSP has a power meter that we are requesting to be read every second (I don’t have an easy way of changing that myself, so I had to just live with it).

One of the things we are looking at in our application is when certain events occur. For example, we can look at the power trace to see if it goes up and down, or we can look at the signal trace to find the beginning and end of the measurement window.

You can use the ‘with_odd’ directive to specify that the overhead be in multiples of 2 bytes (I’m using 4 bytes). Because I don’t want to make my life harder I had to use the ‘to_coding’ attribute, which sets the instruction length to 1 bit. This is another case where it pays to have a
