Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

The first commercial AutoCAD release was version 1.1, released in 1984. It was designed by Ed Benguiat, Frank Pearce, Dave Cutler, and Bob Freeman, with Dennis Bowers serving as software manager. By mid-1986, over 1.6 million AutoCAD licenses had been sold and over 400,000 users were actively engaged in the drafting industry.
The first release of AutoCAD did not support some CAD operations, including blocks and comments, and did not support personal object libraries. AutoCAD 1.0 was the first release of a major commercial application to support 128-bit floating-point calculations. The fastest floating-point unit (FPU) available at the time was a 4-bit CPU without a floating-point unit. AutoCAD 1.0 used a separate workstation to perform floating-point calculations, but the commercial version would have to wait until the next major release for the ability to use the FPU directly. Other features of the first release included in-place editing, option menus, drawing splines, multiple grids, dimensioning symbols, layers, and a bounding box.
At the beginning of 1985, over 2.0 million AutoCAD licenses had been sold and the first mobile release of AutoCAD was made available for Commodore 64.
In 1986, Autodesk purchased Vectorworks Software and its related products for $39 million. In the process, Autodesk realized that Vectorworks users who were already trained on AutoCAD could easily transfer to other Autodesk software, such as Vectorworks. As a result, Autodesk released AutoCAD 2.0, with some of the features from Vectorworks, for free. A new object browser was introduced, and more objects were added to the drawing tools, including splines and arcs.
The first release of AutoCAD introduced the drawing tools. There were ten drawing tools, such as line, circle, and arc. Subsequent releases would continue to add new tools, including new symbol types and new drawing tools, such as splines and polylines.
The first release of AutoCAD 2.0 introduced the shape tools. The shape tools consisted of the ellipse, curve, rectangle, spline, and shape. With AutoCAD 2.0, users could edit curves and splines. These were the first tools to allow editing of the geometric properties of the path directly.
AutoCAD was originally designed to

Our second annual Tiki Throwdown will be coming to Polynesian Cultural Center on October 4, 2017!
Our summer has been busy as a bushel, and we’re excited to announce that Tiki Throwdown is finally here! For our second annual competition, each Tiki bar and tiki establishment will be judged on two key categories: authenticity and mixology. First place winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the 2016 Throwdown held at the Alabama Snowbirds and VIP Experience to experience the event up close. Two second place winners will receive VIP Experience and one second place winner will receive a $100 Polynesian Cultural Center gift card!
Tiki Throwdown is the largest tiki competition on the planet, and Polynesian Cultural Center is thrilled to play host. Want to see what the Tiki universe can do? Tiki Throwdown will be streamed live from 3-5 p.m. on Polynesian Cultural Center’s Facebook page. In addition, see if your favorite bars and restaurants made the cut, and tell them we said hi on our Facebook page!Q:
Help with problems with my CakePHP models: Not saving foreign keys
I’m trying to make a simple application and having problems getting my models to save data.
My problem is that I don’t want one Model to save/update a table (or join it) but for each row in another model to update/save the related table.
I know this isnt the way cakePHP is meant to be used but that is the way I’m going to implement it.
So for example let’s say I have a Students Model, I want it to get data from the Students Table in a DB. However I also want it to get the Names from the Contact Table in the DB and store those in the contact table.
How do I go about this?
if you only want one table to update, why not use a belongsTo relationship instead of hasMany?
If you want to set up complex relationships with CakePHP, read the docs:
Scholarly publishers and academic librarians have been battling for years over a misguided notion that
Draw and Export:
Select the fastest tool that best suits your needs. Need a small tool for a particular design job? Save space on the drawing canvas and save on the tool that’s right for the job. (video: 1:27 min.)
Reduce the number of commands you need to memorize and free up space in your drawing. With this tool, you can export and make updates to any drawing you import. (video: 1:20 min.)
Let your drawings guide you through their changes. Hinting helps you create and maintain dimension lines and guides. You can share your work with others by displaying any changes to existing views without affecting the data.
Scale-A-Concept and Snap-to-Grid:
Drawing and tracking a concept sketch before you draw your final design. How would a designer mark the concept and then move the concept to its final position? In AutoCAD, you can mark a concept as a bounding box that maintains its size and shape as you move it to its final position. (video: 2:25 min.)
Reference, Rulers, and Guides:
View all your tools in one place. Draw lines, bearings, angle measurements, and more using all your rulers and guides in the same view. The guides are available in different view modes, so you can view a specific set of data and references in a certain view.
